Defenders LLC of Washington was founded in 1992 to bring together the spiritual side of the community and be inclusive in expressions of the leather lifestyle. We are part of the National Defenders organization, a Leather/Levi group affiliated with Dignity.
Our Bylaws and structure have been guided through the assistance of laypeople as well as that of spiritual leaders that are friendly to our mission.
The motto "Deum Cognoscere Hominem Amare" means, "To Know God Is To Love Man". We have adopted this as the motto for our club consistent with our philosophy and bylaws.

There is much effort and time spent sponsoring fund raising events that aid in the support of local GLBT organizations both by our own group, as well as in partnership with Dignity/Washington DC, and other area Leather/Levi clubs. By our inclusiveness and presence, we endeavor to express our commitment to individuality, our community, and our faith.
