Our activities

Defenders Washington develops several activities during the year, to accomplish our mission of raising funds for our community, to socialize to promote our brotherhood and to enhance our spiritual path.

Fund-raiser activities for charity:

  • The Annual Leather Flea Market - usually held during the Spring.  Defenders began to sponsor this event in 2003, and have  been holding it annually since then.  The event takes place on a Saturday afternoon at Titan's RAMROD Bar, on 14th Street NW.   Many Leather Clubs in the DC area participate by having their own booths.  The Spartans MC, the Highwaymen TNT, the DC boys of Leather, Centaurs MC and SIgMa has been constant supporters of the event.  DC Bear Club, Men of Discipline and Potomac have also participated in years past.
  • Holiday Toy Drive - Since the mid nineties, the Defenders holds an annual Toy Drive to benefit kids with HIV-AIDS in Washington, DC.  This event takes place in early December and often is supported by other Leather Clubs of the region.  Through the years, the Defenders have collected thousands of toys for kids and thousands of dollars for hospices of people with AIDS.
  • Bar Nights - The Defenders holds Bar Nights to raise funds for our charities during the year.  The club usually holds its Bar Nights at the DC Eagle and occasionally at the Tool Shed and the Baltimore Eagle.  During the summer, the club always hold a Bar Night at the Double L Bar at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
  • BHT Fun Raiser - Every other month, members of the Defenders collect money for Brother Help Thyself at the door of t he Green Lantern on a Thursday evening during the "Bare chest drink free" night at that bar.
  • Food Collection - On the first Sunday of each month, the Defenders collect food to be donated to Damien Ministries, a non-profit that caters to people with AIDS.  This takes place during the Dignity Washington Mass at St. Margaret Episcopal Church, north of Dupont Circle.
